Alberto Puig, MD, PhD, FACP, SFHM

Dr. Alberto Puig is the Morton Swartz MD Academy Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education at Harvard Medical School, Vice Chair of Education for the Mass General Brigham Department of Medicine, and Director of the Core Educator Faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital. He earned his MD and PhD in Biochemistry from Baylor College of Medicine, where he also completed his Internal Medicine residency and served as Chief Resident. A nationally recognized leader in medical and clinical education, Dr. Puig has played a key role in curricular reform throughout his career, including serving as one of the architects of Harvard Medical School’s Pathways Curriculum. His academic interests include curriculum design, bedside teaching, faculty development, and medical history, and he has developed and led nationally recognized educational programs and workshops. The recipient of more than 30 major teaching awards, his honors include the Society of Hospital Medicine Excellence in Teaching Award and the inaugural Stephen B. Calderwood Award in Undergraduate Medical Education at MGH.
