Dr. Chen is a surgical education researcher, Co-Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Surgical Education and Simulation Research Fellowship, and an Instructor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Her work bridges educational psychology, psychometric methods, and medical education research, with a focus on advancing surgical education through rigorous methodological approaches.
She specializes in statistical and psychometric methods such as structural equation modeling, item response theory, generalizability theory, and multilevel modeling, as well as qualitative methodologies, including grounded theory, content analysis, and sentiment analysis. Dr. Chen has led numerous research projects integrating both quantitative and qualitative methods to enhance medical education and assessment.
